Wind Solution makes it 20!

Apr 24, 2017

As of 26 April 2017, Wind Solution is off to Southern UK to complete C-bed’s 20th individual offshore wind farm project.

This new project marks the first ever offshore wind park in Southern Britain and despite a relatively short shore distance of 13km, providing offshore accommodation throughout the commissioning phase is the preferred solution of the wind park operator.

Offshore logistic hub

During this project, transfer of workers to the offshore wind turbines are done via up to 20 different crew transfer vessels using Wind Solutions’ 2016 upgraded purpose built boat landing. In this way, Wind Solution becomes a true offshore logistics hub and saves 2-3 hours of uncomfortable transfer between hotel and wind farm every day during the project.

Altogether, C-bed will contribute to the commissioning of 116 WTGs with a total output of 400MW – corresponding to providing green energy for approx. 350,000 British households. The wind park is expected to produce its first power during summer 2017.

Accommodation for up to 115 guests

Wind Solution has formed part of the C-bed fleet since the company establishment and thereby holds vast experience from offshore wind farm projects since 2008.

In 2015, the vessel went through an extensive upgrade, which included establishment of 20 additional cabins and thereby raising the total number of single cabins to 100 and a total capacity of 115 guests. All cabins are equipped with own bath/toilet, TV, and Wi-Fi connection. Furthermore, Wind Solution now also holds office facilities for 2+10+12 persons in three different rooms.

First time for port calls in Portsmouth

C-bed will be using Portsmouth as base ports for crew change and loading of fresh supplies.

Thereby, this new project also represents C-bed’s first port calls in Portsmouth.
